Project overview
This immersive promotional video showcases a conceptual Dream Pop music festival set in Brisbane, Australia. Using original footage captured throughout the city, I crafted a visual journey that embodies the ethereal, atmospheric quality characteristic of the Dream Pop genre. The project demonstrates my ability to translate musical aesthetics into visual experiences through thoughtful motion design.

Design rationale
For this Dream Pop festival project, I created motion design for two key touchpoints: a promotional video and stage backdrop visuals.

The promotional video transforms authentic Brisbane footage through carefully selected visual effects to capture the genre's dreamy quality. I used ink splatter transitions, grainy textures, colour corrections, and glow effects—all timed with the music—to show the city as dreamlike and otherworldly. Typography was designed with see-through elements to blend with the footage while staying readable, with larger font sizes for artist names creating needed emphasis. The stage backdrop features an abstract 3D music visualiser that responds to the audio. I kept the colour palette simple—subtle blue against a dark background—making sure the visuals support rather than distract from the performance. This approach creates an immersive setting that builds on the dreamy feel central to the Dream Pop genre.

Both elements work together to turn the genre's sound into visual experiences that match Dream Pop's hazy, echoing style.
